Personally, dried fruit in baked goods give me the creeps (seriously - and yeah, I know that's really weird). I think it would work to just fold them in at the end and not change anything else in the recipe. One of the best things about this recipe is that you don't have to be overly precise. Maggie's MO these days is to hold as many things as possible. She gets to a point where she has to figure out what to put down and it creates quite the dilemma! Today she was eating cheese pieces and grapes with a sand shovel in each hand - using them as spoons, of course, since she didn't have a free hand.
